Snapshot – Using the Compendex database for your coursework

The EI Engineering Village is a key database for engineering and science students.

if you’re working on projects over the next few months you will find it a very useful starting point.

The database includes:

  • Compendex, a comprehensive index of journals and conference papers in all areas of engineering and manufacturing
  • Inspec, which covers electrical and electronic engineering, physics, computer science and information technnology. Coverage goes back to 1969.
  • Referex – This provides a collection of handbooks and practical guides on mechanical and materials engineering including coverage of automotive, aeronautical, marine and maintenance engineering, metallurgy, tribology, quality systems and health and safety

It easy to build your search and locate relevant articles with the 3 search options, Easy, Quick and Expert. You can email, pint or save results.

Engineering Village is updated on weekly basis as new records are added. If you register you can  save searches and rerun them later, receive email alerts and set up RSS feeds. You can also export search results into reference management packages such as EndNote.

Full text articles and abstracts can be found on the database. Click on theFindit@JRUL icon  to check if its available electronically if the library subscribes to the journal or an abstract.
