Social Work Subject guide

The Social Work subject guide is now accessible at http://subjects.library.manchester.ac.uk/socialwork and from the a-z list of subject guides at http://subjects.library.manchester.ac.uk/index.php

This guide came about via Ruth’s dialogue with the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Social Work academic staff. It was really useful to get the input from the academic staff for the development of the resource.

If you have any comments just send them my way.

Cheers

Dave

Libguides update

For your Information two new sections have been added to the libguides. If you could take a look and pass any feedback to me that would be appreciated.

  • Each libguide now has a Using the Internet page which provides the student with information on how to critically evaluate websites using the What, Why, When, How, Where and Who system. The student can access an example under the Is that website any good? page which highlights how they can apply the evaluation criteria. For those subject guides that previously had lists of Subject Websites these are also included.
  • Special Collections have been producing content for inclusion in relevant libguides. The first two have gone live – Architecture and Middle Eastern Studies.

Cheers

Pull Printing Service

Learning Commons Print Stations

The University student printing system was recently updated to a Pull Printing service.

This new service will reduce the amount of queuing at a single printer; Instead of collecting your printing from the printer that the PC is configured to use, you can collect your printing from any printer, even one in a different building, up to 24 hours after you have cliked ‘Print’.

To use the pull print system you need to;
– Print  –   Click print in the application you want to print from
– Swipe –  Swipe your student card on any printer with a card reader
Pull –      Press the Pull print button, then select your job from the list

The charges on the new system remain the same as the current standard costs.
